Welcome to the review-section of my website!

Reading has been a life-long hobby of mine. Even when highschool tried to squash out all love of reading with their mandatory reading list, I never stopped loving reading the genres I prefer.

During college, and especially after college when I started my big-girl-job(s), reading got put on a sideburner and was left only for vacations.

I'm not on TikTok so I haven't directly been influenced from there, but I do spend some (way too much) time on Instagram so I saw the reading community grow there. I loved it. I missed reading myself, and so in a way I did get influenced by the online book community to start reading again.

So in december 2024 I breathed new life in my Public Library Subscription and I started reading again. Haven't really stopped ever since.

I've never been good at keeping track of my Goodreads, and because Goodreads is now (for quite some time already, I really haven't been tracking for a long time) owned by Bezos, I didn't really want to use that platform to keep track of my reading.

The internet introduced me to The Storygraph, which I still use to this day but only to mark books as TBR whenever I'm out in the wild and to register the books I've read (dates and star rating) but I never felt like typing a review there.

After a while, I started to yearn for even more statistics than (the free version of) The Storygraph and I've always loved Excel so I figured I would make myself a reading tracker there.

I quickly found out that Excel cannot handle all those images very well and one of my pride and joy pages (the one where I can see all my bookcovers by status) didn't even open up in Android Excel on my tablet. So I decided to give Google Sheets a try.

I've never used Google Sheets before and while, yes, Sheets and Excel are very similar, they are also not. Some things work way easier in Sheets, others in Excel. My reading tracker in general, worked way better in Sheets. I'll always be an Excel girlie tho!

Up until the end of 2025, my sheet was just about stats and graphs and data. Now, it also includes a column where I can write a little review. I like doing that for multiple reasons: (1) I remember the book better, if I've actually written about it myself (2) I do sometimes forget WHY I either liked or disliked a book. Now I can just read it back, and (3) I just wanted to feel proud of myself for including it in another view of the Sheets haha.

So that's what this section is, just a copy/paste of my reviews written in sheets. I have no need to write about it on the internet. But I didn't know whatelse to write about on this website so here we are.

English is not my first language so if you see me misspelling words a lot, no you don't.

I mostly (almost exclusively tbh) read Romantasy / Romance / Fantasy. If you're into that sorta thing, enjoy! If you're not, I guess you could stil marvel and the mediocrity of my website.💚

And whilst I don't think 100's of people will read my reviews, those who do (thanku), spoilers might be included in my thoughs and they might not, but most likely, some form of it will be there. So be warned :).

The Traitor Queen

This was over 400 pages of nothing. A lot happened but also nothing happened. I still feel no emotional connection to any of the characters or their relations so I will not be continuing this series.

We're constantly reminded of the fact that her actions in the previous book left to MULTIPLE, HORRIBLE deaths to the point where you couldn't like her even if you wanted to. Why the MMC forgives her so easily is unknown to me, I cannot grasp it from the text. But the whole nation (and the reader) is supposed to just let bygones be bygones purely because a shark didn't eat her?? Wild.

The Bridge Kingdom

Let's start with the good: it's a very easy writing style to read. The worldbuilding is welldone and very descriptive. I finished the book in like 24 hours so it was an easy and gripping read and I will continue the series for now.

Now the not so good: I do not feel an emotional connection to any of the characters or their relations. It's supposed to be an enemies to lovers trope I believe, but only she really thinks of him as an enemy? Because it's dual pov (which is never my favourite exactly for this reason) we, the reader, already knew what was going on in his head and that he in fact was not a villain. This is not quite what I was hoping for tbh, and I wanted to like this SO badly.

The book is unfortunately more tell than show (it only constantly TELLS you what a badass the FMC is supposed to be because of her training but it unfortunately doesn't really show it). And the main issue between them in the end was the lack of communication. If they communicated earlier on she would've known earlier on her father (unsurprisingly to absolutely no one) was the actual villain (and apparently also her sister?), if she communicated she written the letters instead of only trying to destroy them he wouldn't have send one. And then the third act fight didn't need to happen. I don't know, it just didn't quite live up to my expectations.

And how is this a fantasy? Is it classified wrong? What is the definition of a fantasy? It's fictional. But killer spiders and sharks are not fantastical.

This might be a very boring review because it's a non-fic book only written in Dutch and, as far as I know, there are no translations. That also would be a bit unnecessary since it 100% focuses on the Dutch society.

A thought provoking book, although a lot -to me at least- was also stating the obvious. But it was 'nice' to have my own thoughts confirmed and backed by science that the industry makes it unbelievably hard for a lot of people to make the healthy choice when it comes to food.

I've always struggled (and still am struggling) with a healthy weight and I know I also make a lot of bad choices myself so this is not to say I have NO responsibility myself but I also want to show myself grace by acknowledging that the industry makes it unnecessarily harder for me and many people like me.

While I thought it was a good intro into the subject, and also an easy read, I did feel like it was lacking on the solution part. Yes, I think governments should play a much bigger role in this. Especially my own as we are lacking even more compared to other European countries, but apart from stating they should do more, not much else was given in a way of a solution. I understand that his whole point was that it should be solved on a different level than the individuel one, just stating things need to change doesn't, unfortunally, actually change anything. So I would've liked some more tangible tips to use when grocery shopping or whatever.

It's been a long time since I've read a Dutch book, and I know it's a translation from German so maybe that's why it feels so clunky to read.

It's wild to have a book about friendship and then in the second chapter have one of the woman think, wow my other friend has gotten fatter?? The premise of a 30something year old being apparently so socially awkward when it comes to dating that she needs her friends to help her is also a strange one.

She's very misogynistic, she thinks about her friend getting fatter, she dislikes it when her other friends are (in her eyes at least) prettier and she is constantly talking about her own hairy legs with varicose veins. It's not a very cozy or fun read. She's constantly hating on her mother who might be awful I don't know, but is it's very on brand with her women hating spiel. Also she likes to think she is indepent but then immediately mentions her father bought her house.

The way the romance is written does not feel like its been written by an adult who knows how adults romance. I've read many YA books that are more mature then this. In general, 30 something people do not blush like a teenager whenever they invite someone over for LASAGNA, no innuendoes whatsoever. Nor do they love someone after knowing (not in a romantic way) someone for 6months in a purely business setting and having 3 (in my eyes, unromantic) dates.

The third act fight is so strange. Why would a grown man believe a random other grown man over the woman he claims to know so well?? None of the communication in this book seems mature. I've basically hate-finished it and will def. never read another book by this author again.

It's well written in the way that I see the scenes immediately when I start to read the book, even after pauses of days of no reading. However, it's also pretty boring? Finn, the MMC is pretty boring. I don't really feel a spark between them. There are some funny moments but I feel like it the book is also supposed to be somewhat emotional and I just don't feel it. Which turns into, nothing is happening as far as I am concerned.

There is not really an interesting plotline (could not care less about the messages on the beach) and I don't feel any emotional connection. I would like to point out though that it's insane that people were acting like he was out of line at the beginning of the book when he didn't want someone else's child touching his stuff.

I know I'm repeating myself now but truly, they had no chemistry. I did not care whether or not they ended up together and the fact they only properly ended up together at the very end without this being a slow burn is just criminal. I liked the surfing but it's highly unplausible that a man who has clearly some form of dementia to be expected to give a surfing lesson to apparently 100s of people? I've worked with people with dementia and while, yes, you should try to go along with their stories, this is disproportionate.

I felt SO seen at the beginning of the book though because I've personally been burned out at work and it was like looking into a mirror. Therefore still a respectable 3star rating.

The fantasy aspect was very weak, as in, nothing was explained. But it absolutely delivered what it promised: a smutty romantasy. Honestly, no notes in that aspect. But would I call it a GOOD book? No. So a very respectable 3,5 stars.

Love an 'older' FMC of late twenties. 30% in and the story still feels like it's being set up, like the stage is being set still. That's a hella long time for a story that's a standalone.

The book was fine. An enjoyable read but nothing special. I did not care much for the MMC but the storyline, when it finally picked up, was interesting enough. Although the plot twists were not twisting very much.

I loved it this time around even more I think, but that is also definitely because of the audiobook. I cried like a baby so many times (and yes, that is a plus in my book) I love Nesta, I love her story, I love her found family with Gwyn and Emerie, I love the Valkyrie storyline and the House and everything about Nesta. Cassian is just Ken I guess but fine.

What I did, however, not like: part of Nesta's redemption arch is apparantly apologizing to all the members of the night court and while some of it was obviously the right thing to do, others were certainly not. They treat her (until basically the very end that we actually read about what they think about her) as a loose canon that cannot be trusted no matter what she had shown over the past weeks/months. She did NOT need to apologize to Rhysand for telling Feyre about the baby, she did NOT need to apologize to Amren about anything (she was INSUFFERABLE this book eventhough I loved her previously too) and she also did NOT need to apologize to Elaine. Even all of the apologies to Feyre were not all warranted. And nobody ever fucking apologized to Nesta. So I am actually salty as hell about the night court.

Still loved the book though. I know there are people out there who say Sarah J. Maas isn't a good writer, and who knows, I'm just a 30-something year old girl who likes to read romantasy so take everthing I say with a grain of salt but honestly, the world building, the relationships, it all just hit for me. This is my first Five Star EVER.

It was an enjoyable page turner, however, I am left with so many questions afterwards?

* How was she magical?
* Did she put the curse on herself like Howl said? Why??
* He talked about hoping she would be jealous, did he always know it was going to be a 'love story'?
* Did he and Lucifer both know she was going to break the bargain?
* Why was the witch after her sister [but she accidentally got stuck in the cross fire], but then she put the curse on herself??
* How/why is he from Wales? How did he become magical, decided to live in another world?
* Why could Howl never stay in love? Did he always know he was waiting on her?

Again, too many unanswered questions for my likening and if I was a child I would also have some questions although, admittedly, probably not the same ones. But it was very magical and cozy and an easy read.

Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales

This, to me, was the best one in the the series. I have to admit, I still don't feel a very strong emotional connection to either Barnaby or whatever or to Emily. But it was enjoyable nonetheless. And also funnier than the other ones.

It probably helped that this one took place in (fairy) Ireland, but also, the tone overall was more consistent (lightheartened) instead of all over the place like (especially) in the first book of this installment.

There was still not enough romance to my likening, but that is very much a personal preference I admit.

I understand why it's considered young adult even though the main characters are not of young adult age. It reads incredibly immature. It's often funny too.

I'm like 8 chapters in and the story focuses mostly about what the convention looks like?? I don't care, I'm not there, nor is it about a fantasy world I actually know. Stop talking about the food.

The book is actually really quite funny but like 80% of the fmc's (inner) dialogue is immature and cringe as shit. Also, this is the third book in like 2 weeks I read that has a fictional fake book in it and the story -again- does not interest me whatsoever. Maybe I should not pick another book about a fictional book to read after this.

No grown people would ever 'wrestle' as those two seem to do (twice already), that's highschool behaviour. Not grown people in their twenties.

The 'spice' is so fucking cringy, it's the worst part of the book and he is suddenly very out of character. It's too bad because the premise of this book had SO MUCH potential. Oh well.

The third act 'fight' was very unnecessary.

Love the book, love the writing, love the yearning but such an unnecessary conflict at the end of the book. Why would it matter who her ex specifically was, it's not like it's someone still in her life. It's s fucking popstar. This should not be a conflict. I cried so much during the book though, maybe because I'm close to my period, maybe because I'm an emotional baby, who knows. Loved it though.

It was fine. I really liked Charlie but Nora, to me, was very unlikeable. And her sister Libby also. I thought the conflict throughout the book wasn't really conflict and was made way bigger than it should.

This is the second book I read this week that speaks about a fictional book and for the second time that fictional book, to me, doesn't sound all that great or interesting. Do they do that on purpose so you don't want to read the fake book?

Again, it was fine. I enjoyed myself and it was an easy read.

This was my first Emily Henry and, I believe, a favourite of many Emily Henry stans. If this is the quality of all the stories then I don't reaaalllyyy understand her popularity. But maybe that's not fair because I do notice I was missing the world building from my Romantasy books so maybe contemporary romance just isn't the best genre for me at this moment in time.

THANK GOD I'm done with Feyre and Rhysand. I also enjoyed this audiobook way less and then specifically their parts. There were too much sighs, groans and giggles. It sounded like those games without actual spoken word but just some background noice.

Cannot wait to start Nesta's book. I was so annoyed with all of Feyre's/Rhysand's 'intimate' scenes and the whole 'my mate' schpiel.

I did enjoy all the others' backstories. I'm not a a huge fan of Mor but would like to know more about her. I am weirdly interested in Eris. And I already know I like Nesta and Cassian (although Nesta is a queen and Cassian is just Ken).

I still dig the audio for the overall story, but my god is it cringe to listen to audio of Feyre and Reysand getting down to business on each other. I CANNOT handle another 'vulgar gesture' or 'my mate' which was cringe whilst reading but I could just kinda skim over it, it's way worse in audio. Still a Nesta (and Cassian) stan. Cannot wait for their book, but I also really want Az's book. I don't care who he ends up with. I do notice that I've forgotten quite a few (small? big??) plotpoints that, I know, people on the internet have latched on because they think they kind find crossovers with the other universes in, so I am trying to pay a bit more attention to those plots this time around.

Loved the final part of the book. The battle is engaging and the stakes are high. Obviously I know what is going to happen so the suspense is less. Completely forgot about Vassa as a character though so you know, some suspense still there. I hope to see more of her (and Lucien maybe??) in the upcoming books. Elaine is boring AF. Can't wait to start the Nesta/Cassian book, have to get through the filler novella first though.

Really liked Ben as an MMC. He was relatable (also for me as a woman) and funny without being weak? Loved Eleanora as an FMC. Found her particular brand of -tism very refreshing.

The story did get a bit more boring halfway through so a few points are deducted for that. Still a solid read. Would recommend.

I like it, but I also don't. But I cannot stop reading. And it is making me feel things.

I hate the villainy mother, it's very cliché. I also do not understand why it was mentioned one time in the beginning of the book that the fairy was Philipino? It was never mentioned again? Nothing was done with it?

Liked it well enough. Will continue the series. Very cozy.

I'm a Nesta stan till the day I die.

Liked the story better than the first book, but I was very annoyed by the voice actress of Feyre halfway though the book. It was too breathy, too desperate. That's why they get the same amount of stars as the first book in the series eventhough the actual storyline was better in this one.

Looking forward to the next book, but honestly, I just can't wait to reach Silver Flames. I'm ready to be done with Feyre's mind. And enough with the phrase 'vulgar gesture' already.

"A movie in your mind" - or an old fashioned radio play as my sister would say. Fucking loved it though. Still -and will never be- my favourite book out of the series but it really upped my enjoyment to listen to it.

Also, a really big fan of re'reading' a book, you notice that many more things a second time around. Especially because I barely ever notice any forshadowing (I'm just here for the vibes), it's really nice to see things play out a certain way whilst knowing what will happen in the future.

Proud to say I've been a Nesta stan from the beginning and this book confirms that once more.

Loved the vibes, the writingstyle. Thought the premise of the story was really interesting. Do not completely understand the ending (how do the dreams work? can anyone send dreams through that water? Because Bartholomow or whatever also did so and he isn't a 'God' or anything.

Not a huge fan of the plot point that her eyes turned to stone, they dragged that one out waaaaay too long. Also hated that all the other girls apparantly fucking died. Not even saving one. I am really interested in seeing how it plays out what will happen to her (completely turn to stone like Bartholomow?) if she stops drinking the spring water. Or will she forever drink it? Will she live forever than?

Also not a fan of the plotpoint of the king turning into a villain, it was set up in very obvious way (I normally miss all clues) but I guess they needed something to set up an arch into a new book. Will continue the series. If this is gothic writing style, I am a fan.

There is not really a lot of build-up. The book just goes from scene to scene with sometimes a few hours between them and other times a few days or weeks. There is not really a rhyme or reason to it, it seems. I also am very not interested in the premise of the story, working on a Home Make-Over show?

And I feel like, for people who have worked together for a year already, there is not really a reason for them to NOW that the book starts to suddenly start liking each other.

Always like Lucy Score's writing style though so am still enjoying the book.

Hated what the writer ended up doing to Eric. Happy I finally finished the fucking series. Will not reread the last few books ever again I think.

Also, I do not agree with some reviews on the internet that state that Sookie has gotten too negative over the books. A lot of shit has happened to her, I think she has the right to lose some of her constant perkiness. To me it only became more real(alistic) this way.

Love this book. It's so funny I'm already giggling and kicking my legs. I think another book might be about Becky and Blade? Although if one of them is the rat than not I guess but I cannot check for it because I don't want spoilers.

Hmm I don't love his povs just because it's so obvious so early on in the books how they feel about each other. This is why I prefer single POV.

Such a weird ending. There was no lead up to her father being the snitch, and not only that, for trying to sell her body??? I honestly thought, at the beginning of this book, that this was gonna be my fav of the month but no. It was fine, I’ll probably read the next one in the series as well but it wasn’t great.

He is from Belfast, already a major plus. 7 chapters in and it reads very easily. I do think the reason for Mika needing to stay there is very flimsy. Why would a woman adopt 3 children and then never be home. Why would this woman adopt 3 witch children who she knows need to keep their identity hidden and then refuse to come home one time to minimise the chances of them being found out. That's really fucking weird. Also, Jamie from Belfast, has a personality like a wet dish towel.

Primrose is Lilianne, I am 98% certain.

I'm flying through this book, it reads so easily, it's funny and Jamie has also gotten a lot better (although I would like some more yearning and what not). This is the second book I've read by this author and I already know I'm going to have to rate this one higher than the other one (which I gave a 3.75 in October 2025)

Well, I was wrong - Lillian is dead. BUT, Primrose is here sister so you know, tomato tomato.

Maybe I should change the rating of the other book because whilst I did really enjoy this book I do not think it deserves higher than a 3.75 so that's what'll be.

It's very poorly written and the sex scenes (which I feel like is the only thing this book is about) are ridiculously short?? And being in is head is very unlikable. And she's daft.

It all reads so immaturely. The inner dialogue. The supposed emotionally charged dialogue between the two sisters. I'm honestly only finishing this for the book club.

If this was a fanfiction I would DNF. There are so many amazing free pieces out there on the internet that are infinitely better written than this.

There is all just so much unnecessary drama. And nobody acts like an actual adult.

I hated that he used her play to finally confess his feelings. These books read as trying to be like Lucy Score's books but than without any talent I guess.

Start of the book: He is jealous? He growls??? He has a ‘commanding’ (lack of better word) voice that he is very good at using??? Sign me the fuck up.

End of the book: It had so much potential but it delivered so little. What I loved about the previous book is that it was mostly about the characters and their relation and this was mostly plot -plot I didn't much care for all that much- and also the tension of the characters [relationship] did not live up to my expectations. Oh well.

First chapter in and I was already giggling and kicking my feet because Piper is hilarious. Off to a great start.

It's been too long since I've read m|m and I love it like I used to love sterek fanfics.

Loved it. Loved the gnoles, loved the shorter book mostly focused on the romance. Loved the couple. Loved the third act break up. I just didn't understand some of the lore but that's the issue I've had with the whole series so far, so for that I deduct .25 points.

I don't see the point in constantly pointing out that Clara is so big. They act like she is 250kgs and 2m tall. And then Ishvran or whatever is bigger but then they're the same size again. It's weird.

Istvhan does have much more of a personality throughout the whole book than Stephen ever did. But Clara is boring. Her being a bear is boring.

I did not care for the bear storyline at all. In the end I liked the pairing well enough and the writing is easy so I am looking forward to the other books. But I am happy to be done with this couple.

I honestly don’t have much to say except for, the vibes were immaculate.

I loved that they were older (my age, in their 30s). Stephen was very boring in the first few chapters. Grace was amazing from the get-go. Luckily Stephen grew on me over the course of the book as well.

I understand it is immensly cheesy but I loved the fact that he was so big and strong and that there was such a height difference. I also laughed out loud multiple times whilst reading.

Love that their romance story is ‘done’ now (the other books in the series each focus on a different couple). I am used to that kind of series in Romance but not so much in Romantasy and I love it.

I cannot wait to read the next books.

The book already did not start off great. Odessa (FMC) sounds very whiny in the first (few) chapter(s). “Oh my stepsister this, my stepsister this. Everyone hates me. I'm always forced to wear gray gowns, my rooms are gray” What is going on with the colour gray??

The whole thing reads very YA, and maybe that's not even the right thing to say because there is nothing wrong with YA, this is just...immature?

I lied the Guardian's and Odessa's slowburn but it was quite obvious from early on that he was the prince in hiding (and how anticlimatic it was when he finally revealed it). What a shitty name Ransom is though, all my positive feelings about the man just evaporated.

The book tried too hard to keep the FMC (and in that way, the reader) in the dark whilst also being really fucking long. There are a lot of filler scenes that do not move the main storyline any further. I was hoping it might tie in at a later moment in the storyline but alas, not in this book at least. And I'm sure as hell not reading the rest of this series so I guess I'll never know.

Only finished it because it was part of a bookclub reading. My god what a drag. Wished I DNF'd. Good slowburn though, so I'll give it a 2.5.

I did not think I would like this book, based on the summary and the first few little reviews I saw, but almost 11 chapters in I'm really enjoying it? Does it read like a f/m sterek fanfic? Absolutely. But I'm a sucker for that anyway so no complaints from my side. The spice so far has not had any build up, it just immediately happened when it happend but again, fanfic vibes which is fine. I'm aware this is not a masterpiece but it's enjoyable nonetheless.

Also I love Nick and Vi and I will read their book (it comes out this year, sep 2026)

And +50% in and only one explicit spicy scene so far. That's way less than what I thought it would be but I appreciate it because it means we actually get somewhat of a storyline. I'm not mad, I'm not mad.

I am convinced this is secretly a Derek Hale +Hale Family fanfic. You cannot tell me the uncle was not exactly Peter Hale and obviously the main man was Derek Hale and the woman who tried to kill his family (whilst not important or mentioned more that a few times by name) was supposed to be Kate. Good times all around though. But the story was definitely very fanfic-y and while I love a good fanfic as much as the next one, I would expect a little bit better from a published book that -supposedly- has gone through editing.

It's been clear for a long time that Barnaby or whatever his name is fancies her, but it feels really out of pocket that she suddenly realises that she fancies him and wans to spend the rest of her life with him? Also, a lot is happening right now with side plots. I couldn't have anticipated any of them myself so it sure is a surprise what's gonna happen next but it does feel a bit random

I feel no emotional attachment to Emily whatsoever and I'm on page 631 of 714 whilst writing this..

The story also just kinda ended. It was enjoyable enough but I'm ready to first read some other books before I continue the serie.
